Jazzercise Instructor Christmas Party

Girls night out!  We had a fabulous night celebrating our Jazzercise successes over the past year. We started with a limo ride, appys at Ricco's In The Village then a little dance party at Standard Taphouse. Love my Jazzercise girls!! It's been such an exciting year adding new instructors, classes and locations!  As we always joke we are taking over the world one day at a time lol. Looking forward to 2014!

Heather Rocks The Stage!

We would love to take this chance to welcome Heather Finn to our teaching team.  Heather taught her first full class this evening and we couldn't be more proud.  She has been training very hard over the last 6 months and we are happy to finally be able to add her to the teaching schedule! Heather is a mom of two gorgeous girls, a dedicated wife and country girl at heart.  She also is a physiotherapist so she has a great deal of knowledge in physiology which of course goes hand in hand with exercise.  We are very happy to have her a part of our team.  She burned over 700 calories in class tonight - YOU can too!  Please join us for any of our 7 classes a week at The Crossfield Community Hall.  Check us out on facebook for more info.

Wedding Bells Ring in.... LaQuinta!!!!



Very exciting news!  Fellow Jazzercise instructor April Stewart from Fort St. John BC (pictured above left to right (Kathleen, April, Casey, Amber) recently said yes to her long term boyfriends marriage proposal!  She is over the moon excited.  BUT it gets better!  They have set the date May 22nd at LaQuinta Resort in Palm Springs http://www.laquintaresort.com where we all recently spent a week there in July for the Jazzercise Fitness Fiesta Conference.  April fell in love with the resort and can't wait to walk down the aisle there. It's coming up quick - hopefully she will say YES to the dress soon!  I told her she should invite Jazzercise CEO Judi Sheppard Misset who lives only about 15 minutes away in Rancho Mirage you never know she might just come for the celebrations.  Congrats again April we are all so happy for you!!  What a beautiful location and you will be a beautiful bride :)

Little Black Dress Season is Upon Us!

Junior Jazzercise - Kids Get Fit!

Here is my awesome junior group from last session. This session I have 21 girls who will be performing the group routine to Whodunit by Adam Hicks and Coco Jones on November 27th. I can barely wait. It still amazes me how quickly kids catch on to the choreography!  We have so much fun in class looking forward to seeing my girls tonight at 5:30pm!

Welcome to the Jazz team!

We have been training hard for about 5 months now and would like the officially welcome Heather Finn and Kristen Fischer to our Jazzercise teaching team!  

The girls successfully completed their routine auditions and certification workshop in Calgary this past weekend. 

We are very excited to be adding them both to Crossfield Jazzercise's schedule starting November. Congrats Girls!

Breast Cancer Fundraiser Event a HUGE success

On Fri Oct 4th Crossfield Jazzercise held a Breast Cancer Fundraising Class called Girls Night Out!

We offered specialty burlesque choreography team taught by 8 local instructors. Each customer received a cute tank top sponsored by Didsbury Vet Services.

We also had a free photo booth sponsored by Pulse Entertainment, a shopping expo, a guest speaker, numerous fabulous door prizes and refreshments to follow.

Over 100 ladies in the community were in attendance and we are pleased to announce that we forwarded $3,000.00 to The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. THANK YOU everyone for supporting this cause that is so near and dear to so many if our hearts.

Our event was a huge success thanks to all of our amazing customers at Crossfield Jazzercise.

4th Annual Crossfield Fun Run

Here we are warming up some 60 registered runners for the Food Bank and Fire Departments Christmas Hamper Program. Crossfield Jazzercise is proud to be a part of such amazing community events. We raised money for a great cause and even shaved 7 min off our time from last year :) we might even make The Rockyview Weekly so make sure to grab a copy!!

choreography, hot music, prizes, shopping, refreshments etc and all for a good cause
to boot!  Tomorrow all funds raised go to The Calgary Zoo Flood Relief Fund and Oct 4th
in Crossfield all funds will go towards The Breast Cancer Society.  Please join us as

Shake It Shake It Shake It!

Move over Pitbull we have a new crush in class haha Michael Franti (and Spearhead) songs you can enjoy in class currently "I'm Alive" and "Shake It" off The Sound of Sunshine album. We love his music - they are all happy songs!  Even better we got our hands on some tickets for his upcoming show in Calgary Oct 1st. If you see some girls doing shoulder rolls backwards - single single double. That would be us :). Anyone want to join us $64 general seating. Can't wait!!

Childcare for ALL classes!!

Crossfield Jazzercise is excited to announce we are now offering childcare for all 7 classes a week starting Sept 1st! Costs are very minimal (less than a Starbucks coffee) $3/child, $5/2 or $7/3. This is win win ladies! Kids get to play and mamma gets in her workout. We have excellent providers, clean facility/toys, movies, games, crafts etc. come and check it out soon!

New Classes!

Very excited to be adding to our schedule this September and adding to our teaching team this October at Crossfield Jazzercise. Check out the new classes beginning in September - Thur 8pm and Sun 7pm. Also please note Wed has changed to 8pm. Now 7 classes a week to choose from. 4 evenings and 3 mornings with childcare. Looking forward to seeing many new faces this fall!

Jazz Demo - Didsbury Pancake Breakfast

We love getting out in the community and showing off our dance moves so that everyone can see how easy and fun Jazzercise can be! We did a couple of songs mixed together Good Girl by Carrie Underwood and A Little Party Never Killed Nobody by Fergie.  What a great way to start out the day first an Express Class taught by 5 fab instructors then the demo. A Little Party Never Killed Nobody!

Loving the new routine set and the new routine by Fergie - A Little Party Never Killed Nobody! Doesn't Fergie look absolutely fab? (As per usual). I'm sure she has been following a workout schedule throughout her pregnancy. Did you know that it is highly recommended to stay active during pregnancy? In Jazzercise we are required to show you the lower impact modifications so that you can tone down your workout when needed during times of pregnancy, injury etc. While pregnant with my son, I Jazzercised all the way through and also did some extensive research into this. Here's are a few key points I learned about from my doctor and a combination of articles... - The first three months you can continue to exercise as normal - after that your uterus starts to expand and that is when you need to be more careful and begin to use some modifications. Contact sports are not recommended during any time of your pregnancy. - Discontinue exercise immediately and contact your physician if any of the following occur; Vaginal bleeding, Dizziness, Chest pain or unusual pain, Unusual shortness of breath, Premature labor or Fluid leaking from the vagina. - It is recommended to work out at a lower intensity so as to not over do it and not to get your temperature up too high or to the point where you are so out of breath and you can't talk throughout your workout. - Exercises in the supine (on your back) position should be avoided for longer than 3 minutes. Thats the whole vena cava thing where blood flow could be slowed to the baby while in that position. - It is also recommended to avoid or modify movements such as leg lifts or straight leg sit ups. This is because your lower back is carrying extra weight so your center of gravity is shifting. The other thing to be aware of is a hormone called relaxin will loosen the ligaments in your body so you could be more prone to injury if you are working out at too high of an intensity. - Abdominal work is recommended as it strengthen those pelvic floor muscles that have to carry all of that extra weight and the extra strength also helps during delivery. I'm back!

Well I started this blog way back in 2010 when I was in training to become a Jazzercise instructor but I never actually launched it. Now that I have been a guest blogger for The Happy Sprinkle and have even had the chance to interview the Founder and CEO of Jazzercise herself I thought I had better get this back up off the ground. As a franchise owner I now am responsible for 7 classes between 2 locations (soon to be 9 classes this Sept) I have two instructors in training and am so very excited for this fall and all the exciting changes that will be happening.
